A hundred pink balloons filled the waterfront sky

Mykonos goes pink!

The beautiful blue skies of Mykonos were painted pink with hope on Sunday, October 13.

130 plus participants joined in a Walk for Hope to create awareness for breast cancer.

The walk was initiated and organized by Aggeliki Theochari (Fit for Fun) with the intention of raising awareness in October for Breast Cancer through a healthful activity. The proceeds were targeted for the Mykonos Cancer Association.

A hundred pink balloons filled the waterfront sky as participants walked from City Hall to the municipal parking lot and back, a distance of 3 kilometers. Those 3 kilometers translated into 3500 euros in donations for the Mykonos Cancer Association.

The cancer association assists cancer patients through their therapy of getting them equipment needed in the home for their care, providing ferry and air tickets for those who do not have the means to travel regularly for their therapies in

Athens as well as providing a place to stay such as AirBnBs and hotels.

The association also provides free educational programming and health screenings to the community for free throughout the winter months.

Although this was the first walk, it will certainly not be the last.

The Mykonos Cancer Association would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for their generosity in providing goods and services for the Walk for Hope:

Angeliki Theocharis--Fit for Fun

The Municipality of Mykonos

Vasilis Theocharis--Athletic Committee Chair, Mykonos City Council

AB Supermarket

Hotel Adonis

H2Concept

And most importantly those who donated and participated to such a worthy cause.
